  • Determine and plan wedding budget.
  • Choose wedding and reception sites.
  • Select and reserve your officiant.
  • Select and order bridesmaid dresses.
  • Send engagement notice with photo to newspaper.
  • Choose honeymoon location, consult a travel agent.
  • Register at Bridal Gift Registry.
  • Choose and order your rings.
  • Begin guest list.
  • Consolidate guest lists.
  • Select photographer.
  • Select and order invitations.
  • Choose color scheme.
  • Choose attendants.

 

 

Six to Nine Months:

  • Address invitations as soon as they arrive, or hire a calligrapher to do them.
  • Complete your guest list.
  • Confirm your dress order.
  • Select your shoes and accessories.
  • Select shoes and accessories for bridesmaids.
  • Select shoes, accessories and dresses for flowergirl.
  • Order groomsmen and dad's tuxedos.
  • Select and reserve caterer.
  • Select and reserve florist.
  • Select and reserve ceremony musicians.
  • Select and reserve reception musicians or DJ.
  • Schedule fittings and delivery dates.

Four to Six Months:

  • Start shopping for bride and groom wedding gifts.
  • Select and reserve rehearsal dinner location.
  • Select and reserve wedding night bridal suite.
  • Start breaking in your shoes.
  • Reserve ceremony and reception items.
  • Shop for your wedding cake.
  • Begin finalizing honeymoon plans.
  • Arrange for fittings.

 

Two to Four Months:

  • Select and order wedding cake.
  • Select and order room decorations.
  • Select and book wedding day transportation.
  • Purchase gifts for wedding attendants.
  • Order party favors.
  • Purchase honeymoon attire and luggage.
  • Check blood test and marriage license requirements.
  • Purchase rings and have them engraved.

Six to Eight Weeks:

  • Mail invitations.
  • Begin writing Thank You notes.
  • Schedule to have hair, makeup and nails done like you plan to wear it on your wedding day.  Be sure to bring your veil.
  • Finalize your dinner menu.
  • File change of name and address.
  • Select a guest book attendant.
  • Get blood test and health certificate.
  • Plan a luncheon or dinner with your bridesmaids.
  • Find something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
  • Maintain a record of RSVP's and gifts.
  • Determine hairstyle and makeup.
  • Finalize wedding day shopping accessories.
  • Select groom's wedding attire.
  • Mail invitations to rehearsal dinner.
  • Obtain marriage license.

 

One Week:

  • Arrange for final fitting for bridesmaid dresses.
  • Confirm ceremony details wtih officiant.
  • Make final floral selections.
  • Make a detailed timeline for your service provider.
  • Start packing for your honeymoon.
  • Contact guests who haven't responded.
  • Meet with photographer and confirm special photos.
  • Continue writing Thank You notes as gifts arrive.
  • Purchase bridesmaids lipstick, nail polish, etc.
  • Plan reception room layout and seating.
  • Buy travelers checks.
  • Do final guest count.
  • Have final fitting of your gown and head piece.
  • Fianlize rehearsal dinner plans.
  • Make detailed timeline for the wedding part.
  • Confirm details with service provider.
  • Decide if you want to form a receiving line.
  • Pick up rings.
  • Confirm special music with musicians or DJ.
  • Remind bridesmaids and ushers to pick up attire.
  • Determine ceremony seating.
  • Confirm honeymoon reservations.
  • Pay all balances due.
  • Determine seating for ceremony.

Two Days:

  • Pick up wedding attire and check for fit.
  • Pick up tuxedos.
  • Finish packing for honeymoon.
  • Familiarize yourself with guests' names.
  • Have rehearsal dinner-give attendants their gifts.
  • Sneak away with groom for some needed quality time.
  • Relax.
  • Leave the remaining final details to your Mom, or someone close to you.
  • Take a hot bath and Relax!
